I went today with DZ to the shooting range at lunch. Thursday is ladies day, so I get to shoot in the lanes for free, they only charge for gun rental and ammo. But DZ has his own gun, so he let me shoot it for part of the time. I shot 5 rounds of 15 (that makes 75 for all you non-nerds), and I hit the target paper almost every time from both distances, but I wasn't consistently hitting a target. It was a bit frustrating, but I am much more comfortable shooting now than I was back the first time I went out. But it's been 8 months since I've even been to the range. Maybe I'll take a lesson. I got a card of a guy that will give a shooting lesson for $20 for 30 minutes. A lesson might be fun. It's something different, and I enjoy doing it. Unfortunately, my mom would probably flip out (again).
oh well.

Don't pay for shooting lessons... you can take lessons from me and my dad for free!!!
Actually it was 16 rounds...but who's counting?! :)
Don't tell your mom that I took you! I don't want to hurt my chances with your sis... :-p
Just kidding...the only reason I say that is cause I know it gets you riled up!!
Oh for god's sake don't take $20 shooting lessons at the local gun range.
I've seen more bad shooting habits at the range than I care to think about. And of course every hillbilly is ready to lend a hand to teach a "little lady" how to shoot.
The funniest was when I was in TBS and we went to the range to help a fellow lieutenant with her shooting. There was me, a female major, and two other lieutenants there helping her out but this hillbilly insisted on "helping" her.
He started to try to teach her "defensive" tactics likely out of that month's edition of Soldier of Fortune that were so ridiculous I would have laughed if he wasn't pissing me off so much.
Bottom line, don't take lessons from someone whose credentials and intentions you don't know.
you went to a shooting range?? how unusual and interesting sounding. where was the range? Back during the olympics, the idea of going to a range came up.
ok, clarification:
The guy that offered the option of shooting lessons was not the one planning on teaching them.
The guy who teaches them is NRA certified and taught everyone who works at this range how to shoot as well. He wasn't even there when they gave me his card.
he is also an "American Classic Marksman" if that means anything.
American Classic Marksman is the name of the range :) Shhh...I won't tell anyone ;-)
I haven't been to a range in forever. We should go sometime. Don't worry, I'm not Annie Oakley (or whatever her male counterpart would be... hmm.. maybe Joe Marksman)
