Called out as a Nerd.

Another week passed, and just a few stories to laugh about.

I was at work the other day, and keep in mind that I work at an Engineering firm, where over 50% of the employees graduated from Georgia Tech, and the rest are no less "technically inclined". I was in the office of one of the project managers, who I've worked with a bit, and we started talking and I said something that I guess he thought was more nerdy than expected, and he says "well no wonder you were an engineering major! You are a nerd!" when you get called out as a nerd in a company like mine, you know that maybe you truly are a bigger nerd than you thought!

Yesterday, we were sitting in on a meeting trying to solve a transportation problem for one of our customers, and during the meeting I kept throwing out different alternative solutions, since we couldn't seem to find one that worked. This morning, the senior designer/CAD supervisor AKA the person who does this all the time stopped by my office and said he was really impressed with my ideas yesterday. That made my day.

Story #3
When I went to the plant this tuesday, I was wearing a pair of lace-up sketchers that I've actually had since the 11th grade (9 years ago), and are the most comfortable shoes I own. They look like crap, but at a plant, everyone's shoes do, so I didn't mind wearing them. As I am walking into the plant for the day's meeting, I hear a "flip flop" sound. I look down, and the entire sole of one shoe has come off, other than right by the ball of the foot where it's still glued. well, the only other shoes I had brought on this trip were my sneakers, and you can't wear those in the plant, so I had to Mcgeiver it. I took the shoelaces out and relaced the shoes to have enough string remaining to tie it around the sole of the shoe. Though I had to retie it about 10 times that day, I don't think anyone (at least, anyone significant) noticed my little shoe problem. I will post a picture of my shoe later =)
