I dread the day that airplanes will have internet access. True, it will prove to be one more form of convenience that traveling will provide. Sure, now not only can we fly across the country for a day for a meeting, but the interim travel time will not be wasted! I think of it as just the opposite. Travel time is the one time that I get to take a break from the world. I get to pretend no one is trying to contact me, and I have an excuse for why I don’t answer my phone. I am not expected to respond to emails, and when people ask, I can simply say “I am so sorry I missed you, I was traveling.” Unfortunately, that excuse will go by the wayside. Similar to how fifteen years ago, one could drive somewhere and be unreachable, now if you’re on the ground, you pretty much have no excuse no not be available by phone/blackberry/etc.
When at home, I have no time to sit down and read. I go straight from work to work out or to dance or to teach dance or to spend time with my family. Lately, I haven’t even enjoyed dinner without multitasking at the same time. But because I traveled this week, I read a book. I wrote a blog entry. I took a nap. And how lovely it was. I read “A thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini. He is the same author who wrote “The Kite Runner” which I read last year. “A thousand splendid suns” was a beautifully written book of the accounts of two women living in Afganistan, whose stories are filled with history, love, fear, growth, violence and faith. I would recommend reading it if you haven’t already.Hopefully this weekend will be nice and relaxing too. If I muster the guts, I plan to chop off all my hair too.

Afganistan
Where is Afganistan? I've heard of Afghanistan. Perhaps spell check would be your friend.
